About Barron River Hotel:

The Barron River is one of the  oldest, if not the oldest, hotel in Cairns first built as a lodging house in 1887 for local timber yard workers. It was then opened by The Tully family as  a hotel in 1927. It has a long and rich history etched into the fabric of the  hotel. Our menu makes great use of the  seasons freshest ingredients, combining succulent seafood and mouth-watering  steaks with prime local produce.

What we need:

  • Has a passion for the industry and  are committed to a successful career in hospitality.
  • Projects a friendly, enthusiastic  and positive attitude at all times      
  • Enjoys working with others in a team  environment, and can take direction from the Sous and Head Chef
  • Possess a creative flair and has  superb presentation skills    

What you will bring to the table:    

  • At least 2+ years of experience as a  Chef    
  • Control stock, order, and checking  of deliveries    
  • Provide high quality meals in a fast  paced environment      
  • Strong compliance focus    
  • A commitment to achieving outstanding sales results  
  • Exceptional customer service  standards    
  • Ability to engage with the local  community    
  • Excellent communication skills    
  • Well-rounded experience within the  bar/pub industry    
  • Strong problem-solving skills
